The main entrance gate to the entire new residential district in Polianky – Čerešne will be the main public square Čerešne Plaza for Bratislava residents arriving by public transport along Harmincova Street. The vertical dominant feature of the architectural, urban, and spatial composition will be an iconic trio of high-rise residential buildings, which, with their shape of three “periscopes” pointing northwest, will “guard” the entrance to the city via the highway from the Czech Republic.
The entrance to Čerešne Plaza is formed by the atypical Lipského public transport bus stop, which represents parametrically generated architecture responding to a range of passenger requirements and which was made possible using 3D concrete printing technology, thus manifesting the ambitious architectural strategy of the team of architects from the Architekti Šebo – Lichý studio for the entire city district. The diverse and varied composition of architectural facades and shapes of houses in the urban district of Čerešne aims to bring residents and visitors the exceptional architectural quality of residential buildings and the contemporary spatial differentiation of both interior and public spaces as a contrast to the prevailing aesthetics of the surrounding panel housing estate structures structure.
A linear public space is created between the three towers on the ground floor – Čerešne Plaza – a square connecting the entire newly created urban district in Polianky with the rest of the original housing estate structure of this part of Bratislava – the Harmincová city avenue, which connects this part of the city with the center and the Dúbravka housing estate. From the bus stop, along the pedestrian axis past cafés and shops, across the square with an amphitheater on a slope between two towers, to the children’s playground, Čerešne Plaza is designed with attention to providing a pleasant experience for pedestrians, but also for those relaxing in an environment with greenery, trees, and water features. Čerešne Plaza will be a prototype of a sustainable and attractive living environment for active city dweller..
